Imagining Lennon Live
Jeff Sohn
Bass & Vocals

Born in New York City and raised in Massapequa, Long Island, in the looming mega-watt shadow of Big Apple AM radio years before the Baldwin brothers, Jerry Seinfeld, Brian Setzer, Dee Snider, Ron Kovic, Elliot Easton, or Joey Buttafuco were even on the map.

It was the sound of the 60s all culminating into one great event in 1965 seeing The Beatles at Shea. In that one August evening, there was no turning back. Soon every basement and garage became a testing ground for one of his bands offered to the hormonal high school gods at dances, battle of the bands, leading to his first paying gig at 14. Over the years he’s recorded and performed with countless acts on countless stages from New York City to Nashville to Europe and has become the guy-to-call for the right sound or the perfect space. He and drummer Don Ackerman have worked together for years with a number of acts including national recording artists Hayseed (Nashville TN) and the now legendary Coal Palace Kings (Albany NY). Today with Imaging Lennon, Jeff brings his talent to capturing some of the greatest bass lines in rock and is thrilled to be performing songs from his all-time favorite band and his number one Beatle.

Rich Coogan
Rich plays keyboards in a broad range of musical styles in various New York area bands. He has performed from Orlando, Florida to Montreal, Canada. The places and people he has performed with are as famous as the cities themselves. CBGB's in New York City is a favorite, as well as opening for Willie Nelson and playing with The Hager Twins from Hee Haw.

Rich has been a die hard Beatle fan since he was four years old in 1964 when the fab four from Liverpool made their debut on The Ed Sullivan Show. Rich would always listen to The Beatles while lying on the dining room floor with an ear plastered to the large wooden console stereo with the volume on 10. This great music from the 60's primed Rich to get ready for the 70's when he discovered Elton John. This gave him the inspiration to learn the piano. It was this passion that prompted Rich to want to be in a band. With the excellent combination of high quality keyboards, exceptional talent and upbeat stage presence, Rich's love for music has him playing anything from classical to ragtime, country to jazz and with abundant ability and flair taking each and every Beatles & Lennon song to its greatest height of enjoyment for both the audience and Imagining Lennon Live.

Don "Diego" Ackerman

Don was born into a musical family in 1973, long after the Beatles split and had no idea that he was about to arrive (shame on them).  Don starting banging on his father's drum set as soon as he was able to pick up the sticks, but he didn't stop there.  Actually, according to legend (his own), there is no stopping him because the unstoppable Don "Diego" Ackerman just doesn't know when to stop pulling out all the stops (according to legend, legendarily speaking).  So where do we start.....
At age 12 he picked up the guitar, then put it down, then picked it up again and continued repeating this routine until it was explained to him that the body building weights were still in the basement and that the guitar was indeed a musical instrument.  Moving forward with a great big "Ahh Haa", Diego began to pick, strum and hum and has been doing so ever since (except for the occasional bathroom break, according to legend).  Don (while living the legend) has since taught himself to play banjo, mandolin, keyboards, drums and is quite the good singer for both lead and harmony vocals.  After 2 years of college he packed up and moved to Chicago where he spent 3 years playing drums and guitar in a number of bands from the windy city to St. Louis. Don moved back home to Albany, NY in 1999.  Don "Diego" (the legend) continued to tour with bands (sometimes actually playing WITH them) up and down the east coast (and occasionally down and up the east coast...depending on where he was at the time.  Sometimes when the tide was a bit too high and the waves too rough, he'd come in from the coast just a tad so as to not to drown or become electrocuted whilst plugged into his amplifier during a particularly harsh aquatic drenching.
Don's love for the Beatles started at an early age when he began listening to his father's albums; Meet The Beatles, Introducing The Beatles (VeeJay) and of course Sgt. Pepper.  Discovering his dad's turntable eventually made this activity even more pleasurable and less suspect.  But it was when Don got his first acoustic guitar and a copy of The White Album, that his love for the Beatles grew into fascination and admiration.
Don is so talented that he has music just oozing out of his pores.  Although the remaing other various epidermal secretions have yet to be identified Don "Diego" is clearly a man of music who's talent, ability and qualities as a fellow musician and friend make it an honor and a pleasure to have him as another one of the important and highly entertaining members of Imagining Lennon Live.
The legend continues.
